New Maruti WagonR in March 2010
Maruti Suzuki, the leading car maker in India, is planning to launch a new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R in India by March 2010. The new Maruti Suzuki will be equipped with KB series engine, it is BS-IV complaint. It also mulling CNG version of the car as well. The car might be developed on Suzuki Motor Corporation’s MR Wagon platform. Apart from this, the new model is believed to be fitted with airbags and ABS system. The exterior and interior will be having a new design and style. It includes new tail lamp, new front fascia and new headlamp.
On the other hand, new instrument panel will be provided for the new avatar of the four wheeler. However, there is no official comment on the development of the car. According to news reports, the car will come loaded with 998cc KB series engine that belts out 67 PS of peak power at 6200 rpm and churns 90 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. Meanwhile, reports are there of the launch Volkswagen Polo and Chevrolet Beat in India.
Cars in India listed for Auto Expo, Delhi
Every day since the announcement of Auto Expo 2010, a new car is being registered for display in the Expo which is going to be held in Delhi from 5th to 11th January 2010. According to news reports, each and every car company has one or two models to showcase at the show whether it is Reva or Maruti or Honda. However, small cars which are to be displayed at the Expo count for a big number this time. As per the media reports around seven cars would be introduced in the gala event. These small cars include Nissan Micra, Maruti Ritz and Maruti A-Star. Moreover, other domestic and international auto firms are going to participate in the show with their new, concept and upgraded car models.
These companies are Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, General Motors, Honda, Audi,Skoda, Renault, Hyundai, Ford, BMW, Volkswagen and Porsche while the domestic majors like Maruti, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors and Mahindra and Mahindra. Tata’s Xoer is also expected to comes in the show while other probables are Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Linea T-Jet, Toyata Prius and a new APV from Suzuki. The all New Maruti Kizashi model is also expected to be displayed at the auto show. Similarly, Ford Motors is believed to bring its small car model Ford Figo which was unveiled last month in India.
Volkswagen Beetle to be rolled out in India on 4th Dec
The much-awaited premium hatchback car, Volkswagen Beetle, will be launched in India on December 4. The German auto company, Volkswagen, already started promotional activities through cable TV, Internet, Print and electronic media in India. The new car will be directly imported from Mexico as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). However, the company has not announced the car price but it might be around Rs 18 to 20 lakh due to high import duty. It is expected that the new premium car, Volkswagen Beetle, would boast a 2.0 litre petrol engine which develops 115 bhp of power and it will possess six-speed automatic transmission.
There would be some advanced features included in the car like front centre armrests, 15 inch alloy wheels, stereo with 6 speakers and CD changer, body coloured bumpers, power steering, remote central locking, heat insulating windshield and side glass. Apart from these, the premium car will sport anti-skid system, traction control, standard front and side airbags, acoustic rear parking sensors, a rain sensor and cruise control and ABS system. There are also reports of launching Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Touareg in India on December 4.
The Volkswagen Beetle will be a small car while Volkswagen Touareg is a SUV that is expected to be priced at Rs 55 lakh. Volkswagen Touareg comes loaded with a 3 litre V6 diesel mill which churns 240 bhp of peak power and feature a six-speed automatic transmission with the DSG system. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is also slated for launch in India.
New small car in India by Honda before 2011-12
Launching small cars in India is a new trend in the country as a number of leading auto makers are foraying into the segment. The market leader in the small cars in India is Maruti Suzuki. After the great success of Maruti small cars in India, several auto firms launched their compact cars in India. Now, Honda is all set to introduce its small car in India before 2011-12.
The code name of the small car is 2CV. The car will have a 1.1 litre petrol engine and might be priced between Rs 4 to 5 lakh in India. The car will be positioned against likes of the Hyundai i10, Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Tata Motors’ Indica, General Motors Aveo UV-A and Fiat’s Punto. Toyota is also mulling over to launch its compact car in India and will be competing with Honda’s small car. The yet-to-launch small car of Honda, will have Honda Jazz’s platform and shorter in size as against the Honda Jazz.
The small car might be manufactured at company’s Rajasthan plant that have an installed capacity of one lakh compact cars a year. However, no official word in this regard. There is another good news for car enthusiasts in India-new cars in India. Volkswagen is going to launch its Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Polo in India.
World’s fastest car in India: Ultimate Aero
The fastest car of the world, Ultimate Aero, is believed to be introduced in India! The expected launch date is learnt to be December 2009. The top speed of the car is 413 kmph. Ultimate Aero is powered by a SSC Designed Billet Aluminum V8 Block engine with a displacement of 387.2 cu.in. This car, Ultimate Aero, can reach to 0-60 sprint in just 2.78 seconds while 0-100mph-0 in 11.66.
The powerful mill of the car churns out 1287 bhp at 6075 rpm and peak torque of 1112 ft-lbs at 6150 rpm. The standard colours that are available in overseas market is Black, Tan, Creme, Gray and Red while custom shades are made available upon request. It is also expected that the fastest car will be showcased in Auto Expo 2010. Ultimate Motors‘ President, Nasser Al-Hai has confirmed the launch news including Arash, Zenvo and Shelby. The price tag of these cars would be between Rs 2.4 to 5.4 crore. Meanwhile, Volkswagen Beetle and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X are going to be introduced in India by the end of the year.
Toyota to showcase Prius in Delhi Auto Expo
Toyota’s new hybrid sedan, Toyota Prius, will be showcased in Delhi Auto Expo. The new car is supposed to be more larger and wider in dimension to its predecessor Prius. As it will be a completely built unit, it might be priced around Rs 22 lakh. The third generation of Prius will be displayed and sold here in India.
The new Prius sports an upgraded power mill from 1500cc to 1800cc that produces peak power of 98 bhp at 5200 rpm. The electric top speed of the car is 25 miles per hour. Fuel economy in the city is believed to be around 32 miles per gallon main highway mileage is 55 MPG.
New Maruti SX4 introduced in India
The leading auto maker of India, Maruti Suzuki, has introduced new variant of Maruti SX4 in the country. This is an automatic transmission version of the popular sedan. The new variant of MarutiSX4 comes loaded with VVT engine that is is compliant with the new emission norms that come into effect from April next year. Apart from that, Maruti SX4 has new interiors while exterior is the very same. Due to the new launch, existing Maruti SX4 is expected to be phased out. Maruti SX4 is priced over Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The automatic transmission Maruti SX4 is to compete with Honda City. The new variant, Maruti SX4, comes with dual tone dash board, wooden finish on the arm rests on the door, 10 spoke alloy wheels and honey comb grille. Toyota to bring hybrid Prius to India
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), the world’s largest car manufacturer, has announced the launch date of its much-awaited hybrid car Prius in India in early next year. But the company made it clear that it is not going to launch any hybrid small car in India.
Kazuo Okamoto, Vice-Chairman, Toyota Motor Corporation, told that there is no plan related to introduce hybrid small car in the country. On the other hand, the highest selling hybrid model of TMC, Prius, will be launched by early next year. The company might launch a small car in the market in 2011. Currently, Toyota has over a dozen hybrid car models in its stable. It includes Camry, Harrier, Estima, Lexus, Prius, Highlander and Crown. However, Toyota sells Camry, Corolla Altis and Innova in India through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group.
Tata Manza hits Indian roads
Tata Motors, the leading auto manufacturer of the country, has launched its much awaited and ambitious Tata Manza in Mumbai. This launch is the new model of Tata Indigo. Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata unveiled the festival gift for the customers. The entry-level sedan has been launched in four variants- Aura (ABS), Aqua, Aura and Aura plus. The base petrol version is priced between Rs 4.8 lakh and the high end diesel version has a price tag of Rs 6.75 lakh. It comes in seven stunning shades. Tata Motors officials informed the reporters at the launch that existing variants of Tata Indigo, Indigo Marina, Indigo XL and Indigo CS, would be sold side by side. Tata Indigo, launched in December 2002, has seen a great success in the entry-level sedan segment till 2008. Since launch, 275,000 units of the Tata Indigo were sold. Tata Manza is developed on the Tata Indica Vista platform and the company has invested Rs 2,000 crore to make the platform. Company officials denied the idea of developing electric version of the new launch.
Tata Manza is available with a 2 years or 75,000 kms, whatever completes first. The sedan is powered by Fiat’s 90 hp Quadrajet diesel and saffire petrol engines. The length, width and wheelbase are- 4.4m, 1.7m and 2,520mm, respectively.
GM cars in India: Chevrolet Cruze diesel version introduced
US auto maker General Motors has launched its ambitious luxury car, Chevrolet Cruze, in diesel engine variant. 1.8 litre petrol engine variant will be launched after a few months in India. The 2.0 diesel engine variant is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 12.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The luxury sedan will give a standard mileage of 18.3 kmpl, figured by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
The company also informed that a mini car would be introduced by the end of the current year. The yet-to-launch small car is christened as Chevrolet Beat and developed on the same platform. This mini car would be having a price tag of Rs 4 lakh. Apart from this, General Motors small car Chevrolet Spark with a 800cc petrol mill would be launched in 2010. According to news reports, over 1100 units of the sedan already booked across the nation.
GM India had also said that it would go ahead with the launch of its long-expected mini car, named and developed on ‘Beat’ platform by end of this year. The car is expected to be priced around Rs 4 lakh. Besides, GM India has also geared up to introduce its small car Chevrolet Spark with a 800cc petrol engine in 2010. Tata Manza is also sechduled to be launched on 14 october in the country.
